Deep in the Shadows
67
For those still living
things will happen and
all the secrets will be shown
to those who know for buried
neath earth's crust is
the power of evil who
will surface in our lives.
And claim with Holy terror
the reigns with feelings of
intense loss while scourging
our earth as we know it over
sea and land the black winged
Raven will take command and
have his last laugh this cunning
bird will fly under the moonlit stars
to avenge the land taken by man.
Pestilence will spread like honey
flowing from the Bee's last hive
while peculiar spirits will attend
the last mass when the Bishop
bleeds on his Holy throne all the
while his congregation will weep
like lost sheep as the sword
comes down swiftly from Hell.
The manifestation of the dark
one who claims his throne
on earth will lead his serpents
with forked tongues and breath
of fire over flasks of red Mongolian
wine within his noble halls of justice
while the common people bleed in their
streets from World Power malice and
scorned by control given and the lights
dimmed in all the cities that mourn
and hide from this dark Prince who
claims to be our saviour.
There will be no chamber entrance
as the Raven sits on castle walls
the doors will be of golden arches
with locks fashioned by the artisan
Da Vinci the favorite of this Prince
with brush and sculpting tools he
fashions the throne that sits this
blackest Prince from the underworld
called Hell..
The gloom doom is in our clear view
and the distance stars reflect the
foreboding and evil amongst the
suffocation and stench of fires in the
streets and one can feel and taste
the heaviness in the atmosphere
of sulphur and grinding of teeth
brought on the wings of the Prince
of Darkness the terrible state
and anxiety of being alive yet
in barely a state of existence.
The power of thought is frozen
in time and every experience is
a nervous feeling of loss.
the only hope is in the pallid and
motionless slender lines that reach
to Heaven like fuzzy curtains hanging
in midair they are our only hope from
evil and our limbs reach out to them
to pull and swing from them to safety
to pull us up from the evil below
our souls.
All things are depressing
and only the flames of the
burning lamps mirror our
reflections and send our souls
soaring away from this realm of darkness.
The demons on the scene were frightful
and attacking and tearing and ripping who
remained in this unholy place whilst the
madness continued long into the days
and nights torturing every living thing
on earth.
Plagues of earth extinguished
all who were left except for the righteous
saints who could not be distorted with this
plague sent from the Prince of Evil who
took merriment in watching the dead fall
before his feet.
And lo behold there came forth this
Prince of Peace wrapped in finery from
the Orient and sable draped over the
shoulders of this bemeaning ray of light
so majestic that only the holiest of men
on earth could see.
A defined shadow a shadow such as
only the Father would send from a
Heavenly place the radiance was so
familiar but so distant from our sight
and very high and close to the billowing
clouds, not speaking a word as it moved
across the ravaged sky formless and not
definite of what it could be a man or god
It just hovered and stretched it's body
of stars across the earth's path and
all became calm.
It spoke in low tones saying I am here
in my dwelling don't fear me for I have
come to save this world from the Dark
Prince who has claimed the throne
his voice was gentle yet firm as the
dusk drew near and the sun hid behind
the moon and ears heard and listened
to it's command to love and pray for
peace in the land and all was silent as
it departed with these last words
let me not return for it will be the end
of your world and darkness will be
permanent and the serpent will reign
Love one another and be kind to
every animal on this I gave
you Earth.

This is very compelling and pertinent considering the current state of things world wide regarding the "ends of the earth." Some say these visions are given to poets to share with the rest of the world... Hmmm...
Hello Ken,
I will be so brave to offer my thoughts,as this is what I was taught about Revelations growing up and a book that can be quite confusing, this comes pretty close to describing the end of the world...your descriptions are very graphic. Our only hope will be in the Almighty in those times of desolation. Please dont delete it..is a very fine Allegory as Nellie pointed out. Very profound and intense.
That was one hellacious dream, pardon the pun. Only you could turn such an unpleasant experience into such a deep piece of poetry. Voted up, awesome and interesting!
I call this an excellent melodramatic extensive metaphor explaining evil versus good.
(d)evil versus g(o)od.
If there was not already a Book about this topic, this poem of yours could have been one in a sacred anthology containing metaphors explaining the invisible North and South Poles of intelligent existence. Evil and Good. If there was no evil, there would have been no good.... there would have been no intelligent existence... humans would have been merely normal omnivorous primates. Humans are the only creatures who distinguish good and evil.
Vincent, I voted this up, excellent and thought-provoking.
This is stunning.
I love the imagery of the "bishop bleed(ing) on his holy throne" the best.
This is so profound and graphic that it is scary especially after reading about the strange sounds that are occuring in the Northern hemosphere but around the world.
A message of woe betide if we cannot live in peace with our fellow man.
As long as we have faith good will always triumph over evil.
This graphic piece seems to come from The Book Of Revelations. It is a frightful time when people must decide who to follow, the prince of love or the prince of darkness. It is a compelling write..Your words are chilling and leaves me with dark feelings. I believe in a God of love, but most assuredly evil exists. Please do not delete it. I believe there is a message here, and i think that message is to love each other more...Thank you Vincent...Cheers
Do you know the expression....Á cut above the rest.?´´
This is how I feel about you whenever I read such a powerful piece.
Wonderful.
Great words here Vincent;it always amazes me just how talented so many here on Hubpages are and I include you in this too.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Take care;
Eddy.
Scary but filled with great hope for the righteous. Ah! but the truth is ... we need to do nothing.. it is finished, with faith we can boldly approach the throne of grace for we are a people of Grace..made righteous by the blood of the Lamb! Oh what Joy! Amazing writing, deep, deep thoughts!
very good, Vincent. Epic in all the right ways. gripping detail and amazing wording! up and shared...
Came back to read again,. It really is quite brilliant , if slightly scary.
I really LOVE it. There are verses in the book of Revelation in the bible that give me the same kind of shivers.
I´m so glad I found you. I hope you never stop writing.
This one really came from a deep place for sure. It is very descriptive and a forewarning of what might be if we do not pay attention to what we are doing to Mother Earth and ourselves. Yet there is hope, as evidenced in your last three verses. Up, Beautiful, and Awesome is your message from beyond, my friend. Hugs, Peace, and Blessings to you.
Yes, Vincent, you did mention the "flasks of red Mongolian wine". Must have been a bit of help to look deeper within than you usually do? Whether or not...it is an awesomely deep message to ponder on. I love it!!!
vincent, that's a good way to be!
Absinthe dreams penned in quiet shadows in the cheerless hours before dawn and brought to us to ponder.
This is a pretty intense write Vincent--Revelations with a kick in the pants--relevant as so many look toward the end of time
I can't imagine you deleting such an incredible poem. It's dark but it's also hopeful. I was hanging on every word and loved how it ended. You are so talented, it blows my mind.
Very intense and gripping. You're very talented.
